Parent Resources

Scouting is a whole new world for many boys and their families. We hope to make your adventure a positive one.

When you are ready to join, we will need a bit of paperwork from you:

  1. BSA Applications – You may also apply online here
  2. BSA Medical Form (Part A & B only for Cub Scouts) ~ NO doctor signature required!

We’d like every scout to have a navy blue (Tigers, Wolf, Bear) or khaki (Webelos and Arrow of Light) uniform shirt. Lions can wear a navy blue shirt or a branded Lion t-shirt. Council and Pack patches are provided upon payment of Registration and dues. Scout Shop location and hours of operation may be found by accessing the link (http://ocscouts.org/Contact).

Registration and dues are collected upon joining our Pack, then annually when we re-charter in January. We encourage Scouts to subscribe to Scouts’ Life magazine to enhance their Scouting experience.

Scout Book

Did you know that scouts can work on advancements at home? All of our adventures have requirements that state, “With your family or den,” which means that everyone can participate at home in their adventures. This is always a fun way to keep kids busy during track-outs, spring break, or even if they get “bored” with nothing to do.

All parents are encouraged to register for Scoutbook, which lets you track their advancement, outdoor activities and awards.

Communication

Our Pack has an active Slack group (we call our “Pack Slack”). This tool allows parents and leaders to communicate with each other in real time. You will be sent an invite to the Pack Slack when you join the troop.

If you do not already have an invitation to the Slack group, see your den leader or another parent in the troop for an invitation.
